The candidates as they stand are long time politicians, they have had ample time to make good legislation and failed to do so. In 1978 I was 18 years old and voted in the 1980 presidential campaign. I have consistently voted for the republican party all of my voting life. I am probably the biggest flag waving conservative republican that you will ever meet. However, after looking at the current candidate's stand on the  ISSUES I cannot endorse any of them. While Mrs. Clinton is dodging sniper fire, Mr. Obama was obviously asleep in church, while Mr. McCain is singing his rendition of bomb, bomb, bomb  bomb, bomb Iran. However, I must state that I do thank and respect Mr. McCain's service to our beloved country. But  I was adamantly opposed to his immigration policy. I do not need to go onto a web site to see what the candidates stand for I have seen it thru their voting records. Do you know where Ron Paul stands on the issues? Well, let me give you a brief overview.

Debt and taxes Ron Paul Says Favors tax cuts, however a tax cut is of no effect until our government curbs it's spending habits. Wants to dismantle the Federal Reserve Bank which is NOT a government agency but is a private for profit bank that runs our government and our economy and is owned by rich elitist bankers, that print money like a drunk sailor spends it. Note: I mean no disrespect to the Naval force.  We have allowed private bankers, lobbyists, wasteful government agencies ,corporate welfare and countries on foreign aid to dictate the size of our ballooning  budget. I could go way further on this issue.

No Tax on Tips Ron Paul Says it is an outrage that waiters, waitresses, and other service-sector employees have to pay taxes on the tips they earn. The IRS makes an estimate of how much service-sector workers will make in tips, and taxes them on it even if the taxpayer did not actually earn as much as the IRS' estimate!  This should make ya steam!!! Tips provide a substantial portion of the income of many service-sector employees, many of whom are young people just trying to make a few extra dollars to get through school, or single parents often balancing two jobs while trying to make enough to raise a family. This tax amounts to nothing more than the federal government punishing these employees for working hard and doing their jobs well. This issue my not affect you personally, however it does affect millions of Americans and in my opinion that is a form or tyranny.

Border Security  Ron Paul Says it's time to stop talking about this issue and to do something. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. And it makes no sense to fight a war abroad when our own home front is vulnerable. Wants to STOP government entitlements to illegal's.  Are ya worried about terrorists in our country? are ya concerned that after 911, terrorist Mohammed Attah's visa was approved by the INS? If not you should be. I could go further on this issue also.

War and Foreign Policy Ron Paul Says that we were sold a bill of goods and went into Iraq. My opinion differs a little on this. I feel that sending troops into Afghanistan was needed to clean out the nest of terror training facilities and restore the rule of the country back to the people. With regards to Iraq we have been there long enough. Our military has overthrown the Iraqi regime and has given the Iraqi citizens the vote, poured BILLIONS of dollar into the country, trained their troops and our brave men and women in the US military have paid for it dearly. Not since the American civil War have there been so many service men and women maimed and mutilated by war.  NOW it is the responsibility of the Iraqi government to take over control of their own security.Ron Paul says we should never ever go to war under a resolution set forth by the UN which does not serve the best interests of the American people. Please don't even get me started on this one!

Veteran's Issues Ron Paul Says any nation willing to ask its men and women to risk their lives serving overseas must also be willing to fulfill the promises that were made to them when they enlisted in our country’s service. We cannot provide adequate care with a VA that is run like the IRS. One of the most shameful ways our veterans are mistreated is in the area of concurrent receipt benefits. Existing federal rules force disabled veterans to give up their military retirement pay in order to receive VA disability benefits. Every VA disability dollar paid to a veteran is deducted from his or her retirement pay, effectively creating a “disabled veterans tax”. This is an outrage in itself!! No other group of federal employees is subject to this unfair standard; in every other case, disability pay is viewed as distinct from standard retirement pay. Ultimately, we can best honor both our veterans and our current armed forces by changing our foreign policy to one that serves America’s interests. Today’s soldiers are our future veterans, and they should never be sent to war without clear objectives that serve definite American national security interests.

Environmental Issues  Ron Paul Says the key to sound environmental policy is to respect the rights of private property owner's rights and increasing the  penalties of major  polluters. In a free market, no one should be allowed to pollute his neighbor's land, air, or water. If your property is being damaged, you SHOULD have every right to sue the polluter, and government should protect that right. After paying property owners damages, the polluter's production and sale costs rise, making it unprofitable to continue doing business the same way.Ron Paul has consistently supported and has co-sponsored legislation to promote sustainable and alternative energy. I could go even further on this also.   Privacy Issues Ron Paul Says the biggest threat to our privacy rights is our government and believes the  government's ability to store and collect information about a citizen's personal information should be limited. The National ID is not necessary as we already have a Social Security number. The National Id will have  a RFID (radio frequency identification chip) embedded into it. Which CAN be used to further erode a citizen's privacy. Does it not scare you that an already corrupt and inept system can and will have it's nose in ALL of your business and private dealings? BIG BROTHER IS ALIVE AND WELL

American Sovereignty Ron Paul Says, and this is a REAL biggie in my opinion, that so called free trade deals and world governmental organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and CAFTA are a threat to our independence as a nation. They transfer power from our government to unelected foreign elites. The ICC wants to try our soldiers as war criminals. That is absurd!!!! Both the WTO and CAFTA could force Americans to get a doctor’s prescription to take herbs and vitamins. So you would need a RX for you One a Day Vitamins. Alternative treatments could be banned. Do we wanna take that alternative health choice away from Americans ?The WTO (World Trade Organization) has forced Congress to change our laws, yet we still face trade wars. Today, France is threatening to have U.S. goods taxed throughout Europe. If anything, the WTO makes trade relations worse by giving foreign competitors a new way to attack U.S. jobs. NAFTA’s superhighway is just one part of a plan to erase the borders between the U.S. and Mexico, called the North American Union. If you don't buy that just ask the good citizens of Texas about this issue, they will tell you their feelings real fast. This spawn of powerful special interests, would create a single nation out of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, with a new unelected bureaucracy and money system (The AMERO) ever heard of that?. Forget about controlling immigration under this scheme. A free America, with limited, constitutional government, would be gone forever. Let’s not forget the UN. It wants to impose a direct tax on  (Americans WE THE PEOPLE, that includes YOU). the Global elitists wants to take away the sovereignty of our country just like the  European, African, Asian and the Pan American Unions have in essence given over the sovereignty of their countries to the respective union organizations. So we can be like all the others with our North American Union with Canada and Mexico. This Stinks to high heaven in my opinion.

Oh and did I mention that Ron Paul believes that life begins at the moment of conception?

The items listed above just scratches the surface and since I have not seen any of the current candidates address these things I cannot in all honesty vote for business as usual in Washington DC. I can assure you that I am a very patriotic person and my beloved country is the best place on the planet to live. I must tell you that it has been a very difficult decision to come to this conclusion, However I will write in Ron Paul and I can hopefully find some solace when I lay my head down at night.

WE THE PEOPLE should be running the government , the government should not be running  WE THE PEOPLE!

 God Bless America!

As a staunch republican, I can see why you would lean towards Ron Paul as your candidate of choice. The problem with this is.....he can't possibly win so, in my opinion, by voting for Ron Paul you (along with every other republican that didn't quite like the McCain approach to today's problems) would be lessening McCain's chance of beating his democratic opponent by voting against him. You may say, "Well, I only have one vote so how much could that hurt?". Well, you might not be the only one contemplating this lack of support for the republican nominee, and a few hundred votes have been known to dramatically affect an election. I would hope that you would keep this in mind before cutting your decision to "write-in" in stone.

Thank you for your response. I know exactly what you meant with your post. However, AMERICA NEEDS A DOCTOR and Ron Paul has a passion for the constitution and the Bill of Rights that the other candidates lack. No matter which one of the 3 candidates are elected to the presidency, without RADICAL change in Washington DC, we are ALL doomed.
It has been said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well I am not going to do the same thing over again. STOP THE INSANITY and vote for RON PAUL. I have news for you my friend, there is a HUGE support network for Ron Paul and our voices will be heard.

Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." ~
