Patriotism is a big part of the election process. Should it come down to who is the bigger patriot?

Do you think patriotism should play a role in the Presidential race?

Leave a comment and let us know what you think about patriotism in the presidential race. Your comment could make it onto FOX6 News.

Patriotism as defined by Wikipedia states that "patriotism denotes positive and supportive attitudes to a 'fatherland' by individuals and groups. The 'fatherland' (or 'motherland') can be a region or a city, but patriotism usually applies to a nation and/or a nation-state. Patriotism covers such attitudes as: pride in its achievements and culture, the desire to preserve its character and the basis of the culture, and identification with other members of the nation."

Given that definition, you bet it plays a role in the election.

Patriotism is a great quality to be sure, but the next president will need morre than that. A plan would be nice! A plan for anything, to bad Obama doesn't have any. HIs a great speaker but charisma alone is not enough. I don't doubt that both candidates love their God and country, but we need a president who can roll up his sleeves and make the tough decisions, I just don't think Obama can do it.

According to Jane Addams:

"Unless our conception of patriotism is progressive, it cannot hope to embody the real affection and the real interest of the nation."

If the president isn't a patriot, where does that leave the rest of us?

Well, I don't know who Jane Addams is, but I will tell you one thing. The 9.53% of you at this point, that voted "no", meaning patriotism should not play a role in the presidential race, should pack your stuff and get the hell out of America, because it's people like you that are poisoning the very ethics and principles this country was founded upon. Patriotism has everything to do with why you are free in this country right now. We are fighting a war and soldiers are dying because of Patriotism. You are lowest of the low.

Yes, it does play a role.
They need to love this country and want what is best for all of us. If they don't love the country then they won't do what is right, they just won't care.

I WANT my president to cover his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. If they will not PLEDGE allegiance to THIS country then why should they lead it?

mlw1952 why don't you pack your BLEEP and get the hell out of America,Patriotism is good to a certain point, but blind patriotism is dangerous and can make you look like a damn fool, just look at our current President!Poisoning the very ethics and principle's this Country was founded on my ass.I don't guess you know that most of the founding fathers were into Free Masonry which is nothing more than a cult, and old Lightning bolt Ben Franklin and Patrick give me liberty or give me death Henry were regular participants at Black Mass Orgies. So know what your talking about before you speak stupid!!!!!!!!!!!
