It is said that Candidate Obama is consulting with a number of former Clinton Administration and Cabinet  members and officials as well as 40 retired generals and admirals.

On the former Clinton Administration members:  has not Obama been chastising McCain for "campaigning for Bush's third term"?  Does not the sound like Obama campaigning for (Bill) Clinton's third term?  Where is all the "change" in that?

On consulting with retired generals and admirals:  there is no doubt that these officers who have served our country have a wealth of knowledge and experience that may be beneficial.  However, an element of caution is required here.  As with all people - human nature, if you will - we base our beliefs quite often on our experience.  Ask General George S. Patton what to do in Iraq and he'll give you the massed armor formation answer because that's what he did in WWII to beat the Germans in Africa.  Ask General Colin Powell (and for the record, I admire General Powell) and he will tell you that we didn't have enough troops to take Baghdad because Schawrzkopf had over twice as many when he did it in Desert Storm.

What I'm saying is that we can't afford to "fight the last war".  What I'm saying is that the tactics, techniques and procedures required to fight in contemporary conflicts require constant refinement and the ability to adapt faster than ever before.  What worked last year, may not work this year (month, day, etc.).  The enemy that we fight has a vote in this thing and he's not just sitting back and taking it.

So, is Obama really for change or just Bill Clinton's third term?

What part of the 90s didn't you like? The peace, prosperity or the lack of terrorist attacks?

Peace is a relative term. Let's see, the 90s - Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Somalia, the Balkans, the first World Trade Center bombing, the bombing of Khobar Towers. I'd suggest that we had plenty of conflict and terrorist attacks.

add to the list, Kosovo: and I remember Mr. Clinton saying, " the seniors would just have to tighten their belts". We don't need any of Clinton- former- anything. Wasn't 8 years of him/her enough? Why is Obama acting as though he has already won the election? If I am in the right time period, there is still an election to be held in November. Maybe enough people will have enough conscience to become aware of the tactics being used again, to keep America FREE. I am 'afraid' if Obama wins the election, he will just say o.k., to any terrorist group, because he doesn't want war..

Thanks. Got it. When I refer to the Balkans, I've assumed Kosovo as a part of that region. Nasty little conflict. We were going to have all of those troops home by Christmas, too. What year???

Ok- try this, Clinton did well for our economy, and I didn't vote for him-just being honest, and Obama is touted as the "change candidate"-but he keeps "changing his statements" according to the audience he's before-I'm not feeling he's honest with us, too many secrets and discrepancies- as for McCain-well he's been an outsider to his own party for a number of years, working with the Dem's- so I think he's shown more bipartisanship than anyone I've seen- and he's not indebted to anyone that I can see.

My biggest gripe in this arena with McCain is that he expects the Republican Party to be loyal to him, while he is not neccessarily loyal to the party. Double standard. Obama's a different story. I don't think he's loyal to the country. McCain's loyalty to America is beyond reproach - whether I agree with everything he says or does or not.

Obama is blowing smoke up everybody's b' hind. His too young, too inexperienced and if he does happen to get in the white house, it will definitely show and things will go from worse to worser.

He's seems to have gotten a little cocky and arrogant lately and thinks that no one can touch him. Boy is he in for a big surprise.

His no more than your typical mind changing, say what you think the people want to hear, politician.

I am scared of Obama being a president of the United states. I see him bringing abomination and desolation to america. I see him forcing the Muslim religion on america, when we should have a freedom of worship of our own faith. This man may have been born in america but his back ground is hatered for america and his family is Muslim background.
