    HAPPY FOURTH!!  looking back at our forefathers and the beginning of the greatest nation on earth,i have no doubt that our dependence on foreign oil would be looked at as treason! just think about the reality if o.p.e.c. cut off supply period;because we tried a terroist and he was put to death.i doubt very seriously that would ever happen just for that reason.

    how ironic we this great giveing nation has to allow so much just to keep oil supplies from being cut off completely..so much so if osama bin lauden were to be found guilty and given the death penality,you could kiss our oil supply good by!!!as for any other terroist that may be the case;or the worst senario he be set free in washington d.c.;that would suck..

     i have tried to find something fantastic to get my mind off oil prices and put that down but it is the top of conversation as i hear everywhere i go ;even at my locale gas station who says i need to go to washington and straighten them out ;but i know there are millions more just like me knowing the fix but the ones that  CAN OR COULD fix things do nothing but talk..

      keep your kids safe from fireworks and have fun ;relax rent a movie ;read a book ;but just relax and put your mind at peace this weekend! as those early politicans would have perfered us to do..

     i was reminded of how in the early years how our people would stand togeather and help one anouther ;it would be nice if the OIL company's said LET'S CHARGE LESS FOR GAS ;as we have made so much a profit it now is unamerican to put down the poor working man!!boy would'nt that put a feather in their cap to be so nice!!!!maybe i'm daydreamin but they all used to have a heart ;now don't go off sayin how much they give to charity but REAL HELP IS LOWER FUEL PRICES AT THE FREAKIN PUMP!!!!

Seventh district Congressman Artur Davis tells the Selma Times-Journal he's "looking very seriously" at a run for governor in 2010.

The Birmingham Democrat tells the paper he'll likely make an announcement next January. Read the full story here.

It is no surprise.  He has been hinting and folks have been writing about a possible run since he decided not to challenge Republican Senator Jeff Sessions this year.

Davis backers have quietly circulated polling data, offering encouraging match-ups between Davis and likely Republican nominees. The potential and results appeared most notably last month in Tom Baxter's Southern Political Report. The stories, which can be read here and an addendum here, show Davis competitive with key Republicans in head-to-head matchups.

The Republicans listed? Two year schools chief Bradley Byrne (who gets an "attaboy" from the Tuscaloosa News editorial page this week),  House Minority Leader Mike Hubbard, '06 Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor Luther Strange (a regular guest on Good Day Alabama and likely candidate for something in 2010) and Attorney General Troy King.

A big question when talking about a Davis candidacy, the current Lieutenant Governor, Jim Folsom Jr. The Cullman Democrat has not indicated whether he will launch a bid for governor, but as always, talk swirls that those closest to him are encouraging it. It could be a "Battle of Titans" in the 2010 Democratic primary if Davis and Folsom make the run.

And this year's presidential campaign will have an impact on decision making.

Consider this: a Barack Obama victory would give Davis the backing of the White House in a bid for governor. That means fundraising, high profile support and influential friends for a candidate who stepped up early and vocally for Obama's candidacy. Even if Obama loses, the organization put in place in Alabama would be attractive for any candidate.

Yes, Obama is unlikely to carry Alabama in November, but it never hurts to have a president's support. See the current White House resident. George W. Bush remains a viable fundraiser, despite dismal approval ratings. Read the USAToday story here.

Now consider this: a John McCain victory. One of his earliest Alabama supporters was Troy King.  What I said about an Obama presidency... goes for a McCain presidency, too.

There is an argument to be made about change, however. This is a "transitional" year in politics, people appear to want a change in direction nationally. If a McCain president did indeed turn into a "third Bush term" as his opponents like to suggest, a historic Davis candidacy could come at the right time in a mid-term election.

There is alot of time to sort out the "what ifs." Potential candidates will be busy wooing donors and potential support later this summer at the conventions in Denver and Minneapolis-St. Paul.  Many may choose not to follow a Davis example of announcing in January (if it does indeed happen), instead waiting until June '09, one year from the state primaries (one, for the record, has already announced- Republican Tim James, son of Fob).

But consider this- its a wide open race. The first open seat for governor since Wallace in 1986. That campaign led to the Baxley-Graddick fiasco that elevated a little known Republican, Guy Hunt, to the governor's office and helped end the Democratic strangle-hold on the executive branch in Alabama.

Could Alabama's open seat for governor in 2010 deliver another historic moment?

I have to say at first I was thing maybe he is not a bad person since he was touting the whole Change in America.

Everything he says is backed up to the tee.  I cannot sit idly by and let people vote for this person.  

One thing that scares me is that for one there is a Democrat in office.  They have one thing in mind.  POWER.  They do not care about the people at all.  They think you are a bunch of Mindless sheep.  

Obama on the other hand has several things I do not agree with.

1.  His affiliation with the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.  As you can see in the You-tube clip he should not be a preacher.  Someone that uses the pulpit for political reasons and also using God's name in Vain.  

2.  His reluctance of saluting the flag.  Also with his wife telling us that she was never patriotic until Obama ws in the race.

Also with his name as it is makes cringe as well.  Since it makes me remember the movie the Manchurian candidate.    Obama could be a puppet for the Terrorists groups that when he is in office.  He will sell US down the river.  We will start harboring terrorists as well.  Just call us United Muslim States of America.

   i watch alot of tv(since i have a 65"hd tv in my bedroom!) so i get alot of the news media and on one report was about the gay priest;as some were divided and to start a seperate church! i have nothing against gays or whatever but i do believe that the bible has spoken against man laying with a man ;so i gess they leave the book of leviticus;so i go to the extreme and say why not have prostitutes in church also ;i didn't go to church in my youth as i liked to get stoned on the weekend,so that would be ok in that church as well..

       i'm sorry but i feel that what you did before you went to church was fine but jesus said go and sin no more ,so after that there was a change.allow me to point out that i know of no church that condones this lifestyle now but i wonder as one rule is ok'd there will be others;as long as you pay tithes i guess.

       i may not be the first to see this but i think the bible said there would be false prophets and leaders but we are to follow jesus.

      now that clark has said of mccain that getting shot down as a jet pilot was not a qualification for president ;i heard obama apologize for it but i am seeing a pattern developing here as time goes by one (of obama supporters)will say something outrageous and obama will sort of apologize ;but they then bring up the kerry thing now the real meat of this whole campain is the fact they are mad at the kerry lose and the swift boat chronicles;which was men that were with him at the time and was trying to state the truth.

     one thing for sure the democrates have nothing for the experience thing going nothing as a plan that WILL work and it is like a game for them ;but running this country is not for OJT. we need real answers real help NOW!

     the democrates are good at blowing smoke but the fact they will have a study on the effects of solar pannels on the environment ,and the pannels can't be put up until this 2 year study is done!they are killing us! since they have taken congress gas has went up but no supply .and if O.P.E.C. cuts off supply there will be nothing!

Climate change is a problem that affects us all beyond borders, races and creeds, and one of its main trigger is the use of fossil fuels. Their use also poses a needless economic burden for both developed societies like the societies in developing countries. But is not the only factor that contributes to climate change, also another factor to consider is the destructive capacity as well as constructive man, who in the past 100 years has been capable of destroying whole ecosystems for development of its society of implement adequately discoveries in the development of renewable energies and turn their cities into a part of the environment, causing minimal impact on the ecosystem, another issue to consider is the need to recycle our garbage as a whole as well as to make a rational use of our drinking water supplies. The last issue highlighted is that even today the man continues to build its industry and civil society around a well so scarce, expensive and destructive to the environment such as fossil fuels, it seems absurd to continue along these lines taking less expensive alternatives that would , Secure and sustainable development of our societies.

There is no doubt that this escalation to continue sooner or later becomes a cruel and sterile war for control of raw materials and also there is no doubt that this war like so many others before it will not bring more hunger and desolation and destruction of society such and as we know, probably leading to societies even worse. It is also likely to be encountered societies better, but the seeds of destructive war is not solution to solve current problems, nor has it ever been.

The solution is quite simple and it is not eradicate the use of fossil fuels but to make a reasonable spindle little better than this and start using renewable energy sources for civil society, in order to create sustainable cities coexist with the ecosystem without damaging it and without disruption as far as possible. It is not now to destroy everything we have created to build something different but they are implementing the energy solutions to current problems.
Such solutions could go on line so gradually replace the fleet of vehicles that use gasoline or diesel vehicles that use hydrogen or solar power or other non-polluting systems for traction, it could also encourage or even compel make housing using photovoltaic energy for its energy supply, it probably would not solve the energy needs of citizens but it will turn cities into real centers of production of clean energy that would ultimately end up in the network which would lower demand electricity, another important factor to consider is the recycling of wastes lack of awareness in this area makes us beings destructive to the planet, a reasonable solution is that since the administration promotes an active and conscious recycling of garbage that process is now comparable to the first steps of a child, first son erratic but then as you get confidence is stronger and safer. In my opinion we are now in the first steps but we must continue to walk strong and confident towards achieving a total recycling of our waste.

Regarding the use of fossil fuels such as oil that is highly pollutant as I said before, this is not eradicate the use of these but to restrict such use to industry and the pursuit of raw materials to manufacture products for use by civil society such as chemicals for the manufacture of plastics, heavy oils, tar and asphalt. Also in this group of fossil fuels are gas and coal which should be referred to the industry for their polluting effects.

Another factor is the economic cost of these measures or part of them while at the beginning assume the civil society as they are implanted vallan and generating profits in the medium term should mean a cost manageable by the administration, and therefore by all of society. And in the medium and long term a better world for future generations.

Another important issue that needs to be highlighted is the investment in research and development of renewable energy to industry in order apaliar and the deficit will mean that the lack of such materials, we must enhance this research to create cleaner societies in all areas evolve in the same way as they did previously from the Stone Age to the present day.

In conclusion, it would be a breakthrough begin to take seriously these issues and seek solutions to create sustainable societies that in the long run are better in all areas, because to eradicate the shortcomings of this world we live obviously we must pass " the era of oil "and jump right into the" era of renewables, "and because tomorrow is partly ours and partly of our offspring

The long and tedious road to the working class in Europe increasingly resembles a setback in the field of rights and freedoms, with increasing clarity is the way that politicians of the European Union wants to highlight the working class of This integrated Europe, but I refer to the evidence.
Based on the complaint made already in the article "The humanitarian crisis in Europe" I can only follow the trail of events that live in old Europe rights framework with initiatives such as increasing the workday from 48 hours per week to a maximum of 65 hours, this represents a harsh blow to the 35-hour day and reconciling family life with working life.
The question is why take such measures?, What can apaliar these measures? According to European leaders such measures are to be competitive with products from emerging countries, in many cases where productivity is over workers' rights.
I believe that measures like this the only thing they do is divide the working class more vulnerable to employers, creating cracks between trade unions and workers, distancing views in a society in the economic strangulation to an employee who is charged with debts due to the high cost of living in this society we have created.
That's why I think we have a moral obligation as citizens of Europe not to allow this type of legislation, our heirs children, grandchildren, great grandchildren will not be remembered as the generation that Involución socially without saying anything. We must protest in a peaceful but firm in order to improve society we are creating, do a better tomorrow for all models by creating productive assimilated by third countries that guarantee some basic rights to workers and move towards improving working conditions , Social and productive.
Another clear proof that we are going back guarantees and rights is the new Italian legislation against illegal emigration such laws the only thing it does is check out even more to the already weak third world citizen fleeing hunger and misery of their countries where home is doomed to die of hunger because of some corrupt agents or endless wars that eternizan unresolved.
If they reach Europe, specifically Italy are treated as criminals for having reached an illegal, what ideas we are exporting to third world countries?, What can they think of us?, It is regrettable that this permit kind of legislation in a member country of the European Union, although it was clear that Italy follows in the footsteps leaving the European Union.

In conclusion I would like to refer to the FAO summit where there is neither came to a minimal agreement which is a hard blow to all those who are homeless in third world countries and a long increase in the mortality rate in these countries, this should make us reflect on what we are doing wrong and destructive if this pace is sustainable in the long term or is another clear sign of deterioration in modern societies that should change its priorities in order to achieve global solutions that affect us all if we let die of hunger so that they will be considered outlawed in Italy or the European directives regarding illegal emigration harden, will continue without more coming if we do not provide reasonable solutions from rich countries If not we give them alternatives in their home countries, but there we invest to create better societies. So I hope that later was extended earlier this situation, and the system change.

   Before I begin this blog I want to state that by no means am I racist. I know that I am going to get negative feedback, but that's ok. Blogs are here for opinions.

I don't understand why it is that we can't move past racism and segregation. Racism goes both ways. I am caucasian, but I have plenty of friends from other ethnicities and cultures. What happened in the past is in the past. I didn't do it. You didn't do it.  Everybody wants everything to be fair.  How is it fair that people of color can joke around about white people on tv and radio, have black societies, have black tv stations, have black magazines, and numerous other black only things? Today, if someone constructed ANYTHING white only, it would be deemed KKK. I'm not saying that we should. There should be no segregated societies, magazines, tv stations, ANYTHING!!! I'm not the only person who thinks these things. Many famous black people agree. Take Bill Cosby's opinion or Charles Barkley's opinion into account.

I would love to send my children to any school that I choose, but then I have to worry about them being teased for being the only white kids. How horrible to have to raise my kids to think that it's ok for some people to do these things but they can't. Didn't MLK want to move past this? I'm labeled as racist because of who I vote for. I've got news for you people. Racism has nothing to do with my vote. I wouldn't have voted for the WHITE woman either. I'm not even thrilled about voting for who I am going to vote for. It just makes the most sense to me. I'm not asking for opinions on that. That's a different subject..

Also, look at our Birmingham politic who should be trying to move forward, but is stuck in the past. The things that he has done has me questioning whether he is racist or not. All black meetings? Hey Larry, white people live in Birmingham too.

American Independent Party of California announces new national affiliation

Sacramento CA - June 28, 2008

California's American Independent Party, which has a forty-year history in the Golden State, today announced its affiliation nationally with the newly-formed America's Independent Party of Fenton, MI. The Party had previously affiliated on a national basis with the Constitution Party of Lancaster, PA.

The State Central Committee of the American Independent Party voted unanimously in its Friday meeting to make the switch, after which the new 2008 national affiliation was duly filed with the Secretary of State's office in accordance with the requirements of California's Election Code.

State Chairman Edward C. Noonan, on hand in Sacramento for the official filing, stated, "We believe it is time to affiliate with a new party, one that has a will to win. In sixteen years, the Constitution Party has never elected a candidate. America's Independent Party may be the best chance we have of stopping the never-ending advance of socialism."

Friday's move makes the newly-minted America's Independent Party the third largest national political party in the United States based on voter registration.

It appears that General (Retired) Wesley K. Clark has opened mouth and inserted foot.  I'm not going to question or debate his military service or politics here, rather I'm offering my opinion of what many of these "experts", especially the retired military type, should do.  General (Ret.) Clark suggests that McCain's time in the military he didn't have considerable "command" time and thus he's not as strong as many think he is.  However, what about Obama's "command time"?  That argument doesn't hold water.

Clark further mentioned something to the effect that "driving an airplane and getting shot down doesn't qualify one for president".  I agree with that statement.  That act alone doesn't really qualify anyone for anything.  It's the way that McCain conducted himself while being held as a POW for seven years or so that speaks volumes of his character.  No amount of military service qualifies an individual for the Office of the President of the United States of America.  The military does give one an opportunity to gain valuable leadership experience.  That experience can be developed and could possibly prepare one to be president.  But it's not - and should never be - a requirement.

I call them the "Arm Chair Generals", although I'm quite certain that I'm not the only one that coined the phrase and can most assuredly not take credit for it.  It equates to the "Monday Morning Quarterback".  While I still believe that retired generals can speak in generalities (no pun intended) about values, leadership, etc., I would suggest that they not act is if they are still in the chain of command and know more about what is going on in current operations that those actually on the ground.

General (Ret.) Clark was involved with the NATO campaign in Kosovo, an entirely different operation that what is going on in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran or the Horn of Africa.  I would bet that he would try to "fight the last war", as that is where his experience lies.  General (Ret.) Colin Powell suggested that General (now Retired) Tommy Franks didn't have enough troops to take Baghdad.  I'm not debating tactics here, but the bottom line was that General Franks did, in fact, have enough troops to take Baghdad.  The lack of troops on the ground was compensated for with huge advances in precision munitions delivered from varying weapons platforms; muntions and platforms that were not available in Desert Storm when General Powell and General Schwarzkopf were running the war.

I guess General (Ret.) Clark is as entitled to his opinion as we are ours, however, I believe that he should qualify his statements as "his opinion" and not as "fact".  And the Arm Chair Generals should stick to talking about things that don't change such as leadership and values.

After much thought on the subject,I began to think about the Presidential Election coming up in November.While our country is at an all time high for unemployment,poverty,folks losing their houses and people who deserve Government assistance but can't get it because of strict Republican Laws concerning this type of thing, I also thought about the unjustified invasion of Iraq in 2003,yes I agree that Saddam needed to be dealt with,but it should have been handled with more force and a lot quicker.Then I thought about my friend Donner who is a disabled Gulf War Vet,confined to a wheelchair and only drawing a lousy $863.00 a month disability,and I also thought about my stimulus check that was only $300.00,when our President told us that we would get $600.00,ANOTHER LIE.From 1992 till 2000 our Country thrived,jobs were abound,anybody who wanted to work could,and the National budget was balanced for the first time in A WHILE.In the past 8 years we have had our President lie in our faces,kick us in the teeth,and they still have not found those WMD's,it has taken 6 years to fight 2 countries we could have defeated in 1 year,you are no longer safe from government wiretaps,and if they think you look like a terroist you will be detained with absolutely none of your civil rights,deprived of legal counsel,and in some cases beaten and abused.Last Friday I filled up my gas tank for a whopping $50.00,when in 1997 when I bought the car $15.00 would have done it.These Gas prices at almost $4.00 a gallon is choking this country to death.while our rich republican president sits back and laughs as he get's his kickback's from his rich oil buddies,and his rich oil daddy.Do we want a republican wimp like John McCain with his rich big business buddies,in which he will give all the tax breaks to or do we want a working man's President.I also read that since 2000 there has been an upsurge in over 180,000 hate groups in the US,and these Idiots Idolize George W Bush as there fearless leader along side Adolf Hitler,and they think Bush is going to rid this country of what they call mongrel races.Folks this is just plain damn wrong,and we as a Nation of decent people should not put up with it.I also heard that John McCain has made his first priority lowering the taxes that Arabian oil companies pay the United States if he is elected.Now is'nt that just dandy.Well I want a President for the People and not a rich republican puppet on a string.That's why my choice is Obama for PRESIDENT.
