In the past few months or years there has been talk about how much crime there is in Birmingham. Well not to take anything away or add to the crime rate, but just in the past few weeks there has been crime that has taken place in other cities around Birmingham; Homewood, and now Leeds / Moody. One crime was a murder, another that could be a murder only that a body or any remains has not been found yet. This just goes to show that crime is everywhere and NOT just in the city of Birmingham. Even as far away as Anniston, there was a murder that took place, road rage in which a woman was murdered on I-65 near Pelham and in other counties in east, west, north, and south Alabama crimes have taken place too.
I remember reading the blogs or comments from other people that because of the crime in Birmingham, that they would not shop, eat, do much business in Birmingham because of the crime. Now don't get me wrong, I am in no way saying that Birmingham is the safest place to live, work, play, or shop, but with the latest crimes that has taken place, it's not safe anywhere. I work in Birmingham, and walk to my office and car everyday, true I could become a victim (God forbid) but I do NOT worry or live in fear that something will or might happen. Could that be the case in another city like: Atlanta, Chicago, New York, L.A., etc... most like not. Point here is that crime is rampant all over the country no matter where you live, work, or shop, or travel.
So how can people really be scared of Birmingham, and NOT other cities ? If you live in fear all the time, how can you enjoy life and all God has for you. Don't worry about dying, because if it's your time to die, then you're going to die regardless where you are.
It isn't a secret that Trinity Hospital was in the process of moving and building a hospital to a site in the City of Irondale, but the wonderful ( uh, excuse me ) mayor of Birmingham decided that he could persuade the hospital's board of trustees and directors to stay in the City of Birmingham. To me that is a dirty way to do business. Irondale LOST Walmart to the " Big City Bullies " and now iis suffering to stay afloat in other smaller businesses'.
How you may ask did he keep Trinity in the city limits of B'ham ? ( 1 ) Incentive was that they would have 25 years, yes 25 years of FREE taxes.
YES I AM on my soap box about this STUPID manuaver he has come up with. When you take away revenue from a smaller city that is trying to stay afloat in the economy, standing on their own, and trying to keep their heads above water then pull some hair brained stunt like this simply for the LOVE of MONEY !!!
One can't help but see it as a bully running over the little man to look good and get what they want. Irondale or any small city can't stand up against the big cities financially, and I personally think that it should not be allowed. It makes me think of David and Golliath from the bible when the giant came to over take the city. It took a small person to battle the giant and in the end God made the smaller man, David win. My point here is that God can still make that happen in government battles too. Sure Irondale, Leeds, Pinson, Fultondale, Forestdale, Warrior, etc. maybe small compared to B'ham, but with God's direction, they can beat the bigger bullies and win from that.
I wouldn't give you a plug nickle for Langford or believe ANYTHING that he says or does to help anybody. I'm not trying to judge him; but if Langford is the kind of christain he claims he is, then he wouldn't try to be greedy over the money. Birmingham has plenty of money or so he acts as if they do, wanting to pave ALL the streets in B'ham, remodel Fair Park, build buildings for this and that.
Now I'm not trying to judge anyone person but if Langford was or is the kind of " Christain " he claims to be, he wouldn't take away something that detrimental to a small city. To me it's being GREEDY no question about it.
Another question I'd like to purpose is , Did ANY of the trustees or directors drive down 280 during RUSH hours ? Traffic on 280 in either direction is unbelievable. If an emergency vehicle has to get through traffic in either direction, there is NO place to go to get out of the way of them. It is stop and go, bumper to bumper as far as the eye can see. Now explain how they are going to get a patient to the hospital especially in a life threatning situation, or in the event of a woman in labor trying to get to the hospital ?
Sure money talks, but in the event of a uneccessary death due to traffic issues on 280, it would seem to me that a lawsuit would be looming over the heads of the " high and mighty trustees " of Trinity Hospital.
In closing I would ask that the location be re-considered. 280 is NOT the most appropriate place for a hospital.
