I don't understand why someone would not think they could afford renters insurance. They could not replace there linens for what it cost for a year.Hardly a week goes by that you do not hear about an apartment fire. You can be as carefull as you can be , but that does not mean your neighbor will be. I think it is just wrong for you to expect someone to step up and take care of you because you thought you "could not afford" insurance. I don't think you can afford not to have it. My dads home burned several years ago. He was very blessed to have gotten himself and his dog out. He was standing out in the yard watching his home and everything in it burn. A neighbor brought him a chair (he was in his eightys) another brought him a coat (it was January) and within a few hours his Neighbors had seen to it that he had everything he would need to get him through the next few days. He was able to tell Red Cross Thank you but No Thank you. Between his insurance and his neighbors he proble came out better. All we cared about was that he was safe but it was nice to see him so taken care of. The bible teaches that we shold take care of each other. I never read where it says we sould expect the goverment to take care of what is our responsibility.
