Many people are questioning whether Obama can reach and connect to white educated america.So my question is could white men in America get use to a black man leading them in goverment?

The answer its simple, YES! It would depend on the man. White or Black a good man is a good man. People will get behind and follow a good leader. The key is to be honest, forthcoming and articulate. Tell the people honestly what the situation is, how you want to solve it and what they need to do to make it work. Race or even sex has nothing to do with being a good leader.

Yes one with exper. but Obama lacks it. Colin Powell is the only one I can think of but I am sure there are more. Alan Keys but he is too strong on some of his veiws.

There is a certain segment of the population that will not be happy regardless of who is elected. For the rest of us, we will follow a true leader regardless of race or sex. I've done it before (not for president, but in other lines of work). Most folks will.

I don't think ALL American's can be led by any color president until we stop asking questions like "Can a black man lead whites?" or "Can a white man lead blacks?" or "Will an Asian cowboy with a Jewish step-father be able to lead gay dwarves?".

How about we just ask;

Can this person lead America, all of us, one people, The UNITED States?

Good point. I don't refer to individuals as "Black Sergeant Smith" or "White Lieutenant Jones" or "Female Captain Adams" - it's just Sergeant, Captain, Sir, Ma'am, whatever. And they can either do the job or they can't - race and sex has no bearing, so why even bring it up? We choose to follow people for who they are - not what color or sex they are. Good point, Martin.

People need to stop dividing the democratic campaign by sex/ race. The only race is to determine which will receive enough delegates to go forth to run the race against McCain.

I don't believe any one person can speak for an entire race. are you asking if he can lead all of white america, only educated white america, or only uneducated white america? I believe people want someone they can trust and that doesn't speak out of both sides of their mouth, someone that is not a radical but at least moderate; some want a conservative - just seems there are more relevant issues than skin color. we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, no ?

Curious, Mike ... will you post some major injustices you speak of in Bham from your perspective as a young black man. The city has been lead for decades by a black man ...

thanks

I agree with Martin. Let us not forget the Pledge of Allegiance. " I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands:
One Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all.

I could have supported him but when he first stood up and said he was the first African/American running for president that just turned me off to him. He should just be as the rest of us AMERICAN, not German/American or Italian/American but just a good old American. I also am wondering about his family history and what values they have and thoughts they may think about Americans.

SORRY GUYS THIS IS A POPULARITY CONTEST LIKE AMERICAN ( PRESIDENTIAL) IDOL. WHERE ARE THE REAL DISCUSSIONS OF THE REAL ISSUES WITH REAL SOLUTIONS. IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT BLACK AND WHITE---TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES NOT THE COLOR OF THE CANDIDATES.
