In my much younger days, I used to be very adamant in my opinions of homosexuality. To put it bluntly, I felt that those who lived that lifestyle were the scourges of the earth. To be gay, in my view, was akin to being the devil himself. If you were gay, you were nasty in my eyes. Later on, something funny happened in my life that changed my attitude towards homosexuals.

I got saved.

Some of you who are reading this probably had to pick your jaw up from the floor. Please allow me to explain.

As a Christian, I learned through morning worship, bible study and reading the Word on my own that with the exception of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost (which there is no forgiveness), no sin is worse than another. Having said that, with the sinful habits I deal with on a daily basis, who am I to point a finger of judgment against a homosexual?

However…

This does not mean I support gay marriage, unions, life partners…whatever you want to call it. I also don’t support the notion that gay couples deserve the same benefits as a married heterosexual couple. While I do believe that gays should be hired equally just as anyone else, I don’t think they deserve special treatment. While I do believe that we shouldn’t physically harm a person because of his or her sexual preference, I do not accept comparing the so-called “gay struggle” with the Black Civil Rights struggle in the past.

Bottom line, yes I have my problems with the gay lifestyle and yes, it is immoral. I do not support it whatsoever. Nonetheless, how can I condemn someone’s lifestyle when I’m not living a life pleasing to God?

Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.
