In my much younger days, I used to be very adamant in my opinions of homosexuality. To put it bluntly, I felt that those who lived that lifestyle were the scourges of the earth. To be gay, in my view, was akin to being the devil himself. If you were gay, you were nasty in my eyes. Later on, something funny happened in my life that changed my attitude towards homosexuals.

I got saved.

Some of you who are reading this probably had to pick your jaw up from the floor. Please allow me to explain.

As a Christian, I learned through morning worship, bible study and reading the Word on my own that with the exception of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost (which there is no forgiveness), no sin is worse than another. Having said that, with the sinful habits I deal with on a daily basis, who am I to point a finger of judgment against a homosexual?

However…

This does not mean I support gay marriage, unions, life partners…whatever you want to call it. I also don’t support the notion that gay couples deserve the same benefits as a married heterosexual couple. While I do believe that gays should be hired equally just as anyone else, I don’t think they deserve special treatment. While I do believe that we shouldn’t physically harm a person because of his or her sexual preference, I do not accept comparing the so-called “gay struggle” with the Black Civil Rights struggle in the past.

Bottom line, yes I have my problems with the gay lifestyle and yes, it is immoral. I do not support it whatsoever. Nonetheless, how can I condemn someone’s lifestyle when I’m not living a life pleasing to God?

Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.

I knew this was gonna happen. I just knew it.

Senator Barack Hussein Obama is the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. This is a historical bookmark in the page of American history. This is something that my grandparents and other relatives are not alive to see. Heck, I never thought I'd live to see this day myself.

Having said all of this, I just find it utterly amazing how some, especially those from the right side of the political spectrum, are already spewing out how un-American Sen. Obama presents himself. There those who have their apple pie-eating panties in a twist because he sat under a pastor who was not slow to voice his opinions about his country. There are others who took Michelle Obama's comment about finally being proud to be an American and labeled her as an ingrate.

Folks, please get over yourselves.

Maybe some of you from the right have forgotten that an American citizen has a right to free speech. You may have also forgotten that we all have our own mind and volition. If a person feels that they haven't had a reason in the past to not feel pride in this great country, that's their right. If a person refuses to wear a flag lapel pin, is this negating this person's patriotism? I think not!

If you're disappointed that Sen. Obama is the presumptive nominee, just say that and move on. If you feel that Sen, McClain would be better for the country, just say that and move on. We all have the right to express our differing opinions on this matter.

However, when one begins rhetoric of the United States becoming an Islamic state during an Obama administration, then that's when the absurdity begins. When there's talk that we need to pray now more than ever because of a possibility of an Obama presidency, it shows religious hogwash. Regardless who sits in the Oval Office, we who proclaims ourselves as followers of Christ should pray for them...regardless of party affiliation.

In closing, this was not written to convince others to vote for Sen. Obama; you pray and ask the Lord to lead you to the right candidate. I wrote this as a plea to end this nonsense about what qualifies a person as a real American (truth be told, American Indians have the true claim to this, but that's another blog for another time). Stop this nonsense and be honest with yourselves.

If you don't want a Black man for president, just say that and move on.

...but not too much.

Hello to All it is me Dave Neal and I just wanted to briefly post a quick note here on Talk Weather to say hello to those of you who have been asking about me, and thank you to those who have been saying prayers and kind things for me and my family. I know it seemed I disappeared without reason from the air. In the next few weeks you may be hearing why yourselves and you can be the judge of that. Thats all I can say about it for now. Other than that, I can say, that I have not heard or read one single rumor from the internet that was even remotely, or slightly true. You should be hearing much more very soon though. AGAIN THANK YOU FOR CARING...

MykeGT

Folks, I'm just someone trying to make it through life, period. While the internet isn't my life, I do have fun here and have met some wonderful people here. Like I always say, if you feel that this world of ours has stopped making sense, then this is the place for you!
