There are a lot of things that I can find to gripe about- gas prices, illegal immigration, the fact that education funding is treated like a red-headed step-child, the consistent demoralization of my culture and society, the devaluing of my faith by those who don't understand, inept political leaders....yes, many things that I can gripe about.....but there is also somthing that I can shout about and that's grace.

While listening to Joyce Meyer yesterday morning talk about her book Grace, Grace, and More Grace, she gave the most profound definition of grace that I've ever heard. You know, we always talk about God's grace and mercy keeping us, but after yesterday, grace has taken on a whole new meaning from me. I would like to paraphrase what she said:

"Grace is an unmerited gift from God that gives us the ability every day to do the things and face the issues that we couldn't possibly do and face alone. It is not based on works, but merely God's love."

When I passed by the gas station this morning, I saw that gas was $3.69. When I turned on the news this morning, I heard about more human suffering, more idiots not valuing the sanctity of life. But even after all of that, I am so thankful, so grateful for grace because no matter what is going on in the world, God loves me. Psalms 37:25..."I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread."  God will take care of me no matter what happens. It is His will that I walk and endure in His favor. It is all because of His saving grace.

Mercy keeps me. Grace sustains me.

Wow, Katie. Thank Him for His grace. I realize that His mercy and grace are what has sustained me through the good times and the not so good times. Thanks for the post.

Hey Katie, brair here, I’m new to you.
The Lord shows mercy countless times every day, and I could tell you a story sometime later. I was lookin’ to find a distinctive line between mercy and grace as your blog got me to thinkin’. I stopped at this passage as I first started the research—had to stop and just read it. Thank you for telling of Grace.
EZRA 9:8,9
8: And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
9: For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

Perhaps if you believed in yourself a bit more, you wouldn't have to deal with these types of situations. Personally, I never give myslef more than I can handle.

aksjfd, I really don't understand what you mean- many of the siutations I spoke of above I have no control over.....I don't control gas prices, illegal immigration, etc. Did you even read my post in its entirety?

Futhermore, you do what works for you, sir, and I shall continue to do what works for me.

I just have to say I love the FAITH BLOGS,I think that aks(alias)RD'S spouse or one of the same it doesn't really matter,is obviously talking about your inner self being your guide,I would rather believe God to be my guide because heaven knows I can't do it by my own merits:)

I had to depend on grace after my husband died, that's all I had exept my mom, who still lives in Alaska, and my 2 little girls, and God. And that has been the only reason I can keep going.

Ye, god has no control over things in the world but he can have control in you if you choose to accept him.
